Grandma, I Pray

You don’t have to watch this
You don’t need to hear this
You don’t need to cry about this
You don’t need to worry about this.

You are peaceful with Him.
You have everything you need now.
You are glowing, pain-free, and happy.
You are peaceful with Him.

The best part of today is you are spared
You are spared of the hatred and conflict
The best part is you don’t have to be broken-hearted
Your innocent, kind soul is spared.

Grandma, I love you.
Grandma, I praise God for keeping you at peace
As the conflicts continue
And harsh words are spoken.

Grandma, I pray that peace will come.

  1. this is a heartbreaking poem but all too true as we face a tough four years that might be full of discrimination and hate. But I’ve also got faith in the millions of Americans who voted no to all those ‘isms’ our new present built his campaign on. If we stand together to protect those most at risk, what then can one man in a big white house do? Look at the popular vote. WE outnumber his supporters. And there are a lot of his supporters who he will piss off. So our numbers will grow and there’s the midterm elections in 2 years. We have time to get some politicians in place who will block discriminatory legislation. There is hope so long as the good people of this nation stand up and are counted.

    1. You make many good points!! I want to be done feeling so depressed about the whole thing. I am naturally a positive person and I want more than anything to find a glimmer of hope in all of this. It does feel good that the popular vote did reflect how more than half of the voters chose Hilary. I plan to stand together to truly make America great.

      1. Me too because there are a lot of people out there who are going to need our help, protection and support. There are a lot of vulnerable people living in less tolerant areas. For them I pray fervently.

      2. Same, Melinda. Now more than ever we are going to have to really fight for what we believe in. I’m ready to do whatever it takes.
